It’s July, so what’s more appropriate than a Christmas in July post?! For the past 2 Christmases, I’ve been leaning more towards a more European Farmhouse vibe or a French Country vibe. I just love the charm of old-world style decor. I’m going to show you some ideas to incorporate these styles into your own Christmas Decor. First, I’d love to thank Kristy from Kristy Mastrandonas-Interior Design and Styling, for including me in a fun blog hop! Together, Kristy and I, and several of our friends are going to be sharing some Christmas in July inspiration.
If you’re coming over from Wendy’s Blog, WM Design House, thanks so much for stopping by! I just love her home, but I’m sure you do too. I love Wendy’s creative advent calendar idea. Be sure to check out all the amazing ideas at the end of this post.
History
Christmas is one of the most important holidays in the Christian religion. For many European countries, the celebration starts December 8th, Feast of the Immaculate Conception and lasts until the Epiphany. I love the old-world charm of traditional style and European style decor for Christmas. I think it brings some nostalgia and reminds me of the magic of Christmas when I was a child. According to history.com, Germany is credited with the Christmas Tree tradition. Devout Christians brought decorated trees into their homes in the 16th century.
Christmas Trees

I love Christmas Trees! I usually have several decorated throughout our home. Our main tree is a 9ft tree that we’ve had since 2004! Most of the lights no longer work, but I just keep adding light strands to it. I love having a tall tree with our vaulted ceilings.
I like a more naked or sparse tree near the Kitchen and Dining area. I decorate it with white lights and just a few wooden ornaments, which give me Scandanavian vibes.
I do a rustic skinny tree in our entry. I decorate it with only white lights and a star. You’ll probably find a smaller tree, or two, in this area as well.
Our Master Bedroom, I use an all-white tree. I found one from Walmart that was super affordable. I decorate it with pink, white, and silver ornaments.
I have a tall and slim tree that my son has in his room for Christmas. It has white lights, but that’s all that I do to it. My son uses his ornaments and decorates it himself. He has a set of truck ornaments from my mom that is very special.
I always add a tree (or two) to the porch and deck. Sometimes I’ll add a few Red and White picks, but usually these trees are just decorated with white lights.
You’ll find several small trees throughout our home, as well. Like I said, I love Christmas trees!
Dried Orange Garland
Christas 2021, I tried the very popular dried orange garland. I feel like since this is a traditional decor idea, it gives off an old world/European vibe. It was a very easy project and I love the charm. I made a couple of garlands and used one above my stone and one on my fireplace mantel. Check out my tutorial on IG here.
Nativity and Cloche
The Nativity is one of my favorite pieces of decor to put out for Christmas. I have several small ones, and also a large set. I have an all-white Holy Family that I like to place under a cloche. I think it gives it an elegant and old-world feel. Just add some fairy lights for a touch of sparkle.
Color Combinations
If you’ve been around for a while, you know that I love pink. Christmas 2020, I went with a white and pink color palette. It really gave me French Country vibes. I love the soft colors in this palette.
Christmas 2021, I went with Cranberry, white, and gold. I think it was a more elegant look, but still on the traditional side. I didn’t want to go bright bold red, but I really enjoyed that pop of a brighter color.
For our Master Bedroom, I love using pink and white decorations on our white Christmas Tree. I add in pops of silver or gold….sometimes both.
Final Thoughts
Christmas is a very special holiday to me. My mom always loved to decorate for Christmas. She’s the reason I have such a passion for decor and making things pretty. She decorated pretty traditionally with a touch of whimsy. I definitely lean more towards traditional, but I have done very rustic farmhouse-style decor in the past, as well. I think the old-world style gives a warm charm and just makes things cozier. I hope you found some inspiration and enjoyed yourself. Next up on the hop is Cindy with DIY Beautify. I love all her Christmas ornaments ideas. So many beautiful goodies to choose from.
Be sure to check out all these beautiful homes that are full of Christmas ideas! Summer goes by so fast; you know Christmas will be here before we know it (and the snow 😭). These ladies all have some amazing ideas!

What a beautiful post-Kylie. You sure put a lot of thought into this. Your trees are all so gorgeous. I can’t decide which is my favorite. I think I will do a very natural theme this year and focus on citrus. I love to dehydrate oranges.
Kylie says
Oh that sounds like an amazing idea! I love the oranges….I will be doing them again this year.
