Hi there! I’m so glad you stopped by. My name is Kylie Trueman and I’ve lived in Nebraska my whole life…except those two years, we spent in Alabama. I enjoy decorating on a budget, thrifting, fast and easy recipes, and comfortable mom fashion.
Met my husband, Andy while I was in college and we married the same year I graduated. We moved to the capital city to start our new life together.
I started my nursing career in what they call “the intern pool”, as I didn’t really know what field I wanted to go in to. I started in Pediatrics, which I absolutely loved. I dabbled in Medical/Oncology and the Burn Unit, which were not for me…then I found my love on the Orthopaedic/Neurology Unit. I worked Ortho/Neuro for 7 years full-time night shift!
We had our miracle son after almost 6 years of marriage and I switched to PRN (as needed) status at the hospital and started a full-time Clinic job at a Family Practice Clinic. That’s where I rediscovered my love of Pediatrics!
Then in 2010, my husband lost his job and we needed something new. We ended up moving to Huntsville, Alabama where I worked in an Ortho Clinic and my husband worked for a pharmaceutical company. It was a hard move when I found out my Mom had cancer. I felt like a failure that I couldn’t be there for her. We had also been trying to add to our family, unsuccessfully for 3 years. I started fertility treatments in Alabama, but I think my heart wasn’t in it, because I longed to be back home in Nebraska. In January of 2012, I found an amazing opportunity at an Air Force Base in Nebraska, making it possible for us to move back. We discussed it as a family, and we decided that our son and I would move back first so I could work…then, when our house sold Andy would come later.
My mom died on June 1, 2012, and I was able to be there…something I am so thankful for. I wouldn’t have made it if I was still living in Alabama. Andy was offered an amazing position in Omaha, NE and we were all back together by the end of the year.
In 2013, we purchased a 1960’s yellow brick raised ranch fixer upper. We basically renovated every room in the home and put a new roof on it. Doing all the work ourselves really saved A LOT of money!
In 2015, we purchased almost 10 acres of land outside of Omaha to build our future forever home. Then, in 2017 we started building and moved in Oct 2017. We’ve come a long way!
I love to sharing my passion for decorating on a budget and the thrill of thrifting! I may throw an easy recipe in the mix here and there and even some fashion. I’m so glad you’re here and I hope you’ll follow along as I try to write about interesting and helpful things!
