Welcome to week 5 of the One Room Challenge! This week I was finally able to get some painting done! 🎉 But I feel like we still have quite a bit to do. 😬 I’m definitely glad we have 8 weeks to complete this challenge…I don’t think we could have managed with only 6 weeks. 😉Be sure to follow along on IG for some BTS footage. So, let’s get to it!

Mood Board
Let’s remember what we’ve been trying to create by looking back at the mood board and design.

Washer/Dryer Cabinet
This week we finally were able to get our washer and dryer back on the pedestal. And we finally had more space to work in the laundry room. But first, I had to paint it. Because the appliances take up so much space, we knew that you weren’t really going to be able to see the back or sides of the cabinet. I decided to paint all inside walls black and the base Pigeon.
Cabinet Construction
When constructing the W/D cabinet, Andy first added the supports to the wall, screwing into the studs. Then he cut a piece of plywood to fit the space and attached that to the supports. He used clamps to hold the front piece in place and then nailed it to the supports. This will all get trimmed out, so it looks a tad nicer. 😉

This is what the cabinet looked like prior to me painting the base Pigeon….I primed it first and then painted. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any pictures. I have no idea what I was thinking.

W/D Installation
Andy and our son lifted the appliances into the cabinet. There were some scuffs to the paint, but they were easily fixed. I still have a lot of painting to do. I hope that will go pretty fast! The cabinet color is on the lower left corner of the base. And Yay! We can finally do laundry without sitting on the floor!

More Painting
I was able to start painting the basket tower. I had to fill in all the holes and then sand the areas. I primed the wood as well. I’m really loving the color. It looks so different throughout the whole room. My Handy Paint Tray and liners really came in “handy” for this project. It’s so sturdy and I love the handles on the sides making it easy to move around. But my favorite part is that it’s made in the USA!

What’s Next
This week, we have to get the cabinets constructed and painted. The final pieces of beadboard will be put up. All the painting will be completed. We are waiting on a few pieces to come in to complete the space: shelves, wallpaper, laundry baskets. I did receive some beautiful artwork that I cannot wait to show you!!

Send us some good vibes and prayers that we can get this done in time! I’m having my doubts. 😬😆 But until next time Treasure Hunters!
