Early Summer Decor Ideas

Ahhhhh, summer. Who doesn’t love it? It’s my absolute favorite season. I love the warmth, the flowers, the green. (I don’t love the bugs, but whatever). I wanted to share how I add little touches of summer throughout our home, that lean patriotic. First, I’d love to thank Kristy from Kristy Mastrandonas-Interior Design and Styling, for including me in a fun blog hop! Together, Kristy and I, and nine of our friends are going to be sharing some fun ideas for early summer decor.

Front Porch

This is where is all begins, right? I’m so happy to finally have plants on our porch again. Our porch is basically a hub for our 3 cats and our 2 dogs spend a lot of time out there too. So, it doesn’t always look the best…especially since Wreck it Ralph arrived. But I love our front porch. It was an absolute must have when we were building our house. In fact, we made it bigger than originally planned.

This year, I bought some beautiful terracotta pots and filled them with flowers. The bigger pots I used Hydrangeas and then some spiller plants. When the season is over, I will plant the hydrangeas in the ground for next year. I kept the decor pretty simple, using 2 terracotta pots and 1 small pot on each side, then I added a vintage galvanized bucket on the right. On the door, I used my DIY fern wreath with some flags. I just love ferns for the summer.

Entryway

Our Entryway, one of my favorite places to decorate. We added picture frame molding this year to the Entryway, and it really made a huge difference. I switched out the art for a more floral picture and I added a flag to the vase. I’ve also added a jar full of peonies. I literally have peonies all over and I love it!

Living Room

I love styling the shelves in our Living Room for all the seasons. But I’ve really enjoyed how they’re currently styled. I didn’t change a lot. I switched out a few books for my red and blue books for that patriotic look. I also added some flags here and there. On the middle console portion of the built-ins, I added a peony from my garden. I just love peonies! I wish they lasted longer.

I also draped one of our older flags on my mantel mirror. I usually put up a HUGE framed vintage flag on the mantel, but I wanted to do something a little simpler and different. I really love how it looks!

Dining Room

I saw a vase filled with flags on Pinterest and I just loved it. So, I recreated it for my table. I added a large cutting board, our normal glasses and plates with some gold flatware (it’s plastic). I love an undone tablescape. They’re my favorite to do and they’re so easy. I love how “lived in” they look. And, of course peonies made an appearance.

Kitchen

In the kitchen, I changed out my vase to one that I DIY’d. I added a whole bunch of tomatoes from Costco to the wooden bowl. The main thing I added, was the flag banner in between the two Lantern Lights. I really love how it looks!

Conclusion

Overall, I just like to move things around in my home season to season. Shopping my home, is what I do first before I go out and buy anything. The only thing I did buy, was new flags. Old Glory is the perfect decor item for all summer long.
