We haven’t really done anything with our Master Bathroom since we moved in. We did add shiplap above the vanities in white, but I think I want that changed. I’ve been wanting a project to do, but not a big project. I decided that I could do some small projects that could make a big impact and I that way, I could take my time.

Increased Visual Interest
The toilet. Not much visual interest to write about, am I right? It’s not really the prettiest of objects in the home. But some people (husbands) spend a lot of time with it. I prefer the toilet to be out of sight. I love that ours has its own room. We’ve one other house that had a water closet and that is when we lived in Alabama. Did you know they put crown molding everywhere…even in the water closet.
Creating a Unique and Stylish Water Closet
I chose a pretty bold wallpaper design. It’s definitely modern, but I fell it still gives a cottage vibe. I tackled this project by myself, while Andy and Noah were on a camping trip. I know it took me longer to do it than it would have if Andy was there to help. But I promised myself that I would finish it in one day. The wallpaper I’m working with is the paste-to-wall wallpaper. Design Ideas and Tips for Choosing the Perfect Wallpaper
I wanted to go bold. I think the water closet is the perfect space to experiment in. Most of our home is pretty neutral with some muted colors (besides the theater room). I browsed Pinterest for moody bathrooms, and I was hooked. I didn’t know if I wanted to commit to a full moody room, so opted to start in the water closet.
I think the bolder, the better in this space. You’ll get just a pop of that bold pattern when the door of the water closet is open. But you can always close that door. You can go with a bold floral or a stripe. You could try a smaller scale pattern with bold colors. I took in account the colors in our Master Bedroom. Because the wallpaper I chose had so many colors, it definitely works.
There are so many wallpaper companies out there these days. I like European influence for patterns. I do think that a bold colored wallpaper is more of a modern style. I really like mixing modern with vintage/cottage vibes. If you choose a more traditional pattern in bold colors, you’ll get that modern traditional vibe that’s so popular right now. Added Personality to Your Space
I was originally going to hang shelves over the toilet, but after seeing the wallpaper up, I didn’t want to cover it up. I added a vintage frame with vintage art. I also changed out the toilet paper holder. The back of the toilet has some necessities for, ya know.
Conclusion
By adding wallpaper to your water closet, you can elevate your bathroom’s decor and create a space that reflects your personal style.
