Create a Hauntingly Beautiful Entrance

Last year I added an infestation of butterflies, or creepy moths. I went simpler this year. I took a branch from my yard and made the necessary cuts to get the right shape. I placed the branch into a thrifted urn and then stuffed it with paper for a tight fit. Then I added Spanish moss. There’s something spooky and chic about Spanish moss. I added moss to the branch, as well. I had a bunch of black birds and added them to the whole entry space. They have wires on their feet making it easier to pose them. I added cream spooky fabric draped over my mirror and the dresser. I created a faux crystal ball with more moss. Some candles and moody art finish the space. I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

Set the Mood with a Stylish Fireplace Mantel
For the fireplace, I got a little creative and did a little DIY project. I had two wreaths that I took apart and then stretched the grapevine out across the mantel. I had some metal bats that I stuck in the garland in random spots. I found a leaf template online and traced it onto brown paper bags. I only used two different leaf designs. I cut out the shapes, then crumpled the leaves up for some added texture. Plus, crumpling the leaves helps them to keep their shape. I used hot glue to attach the leaves to the garland. The final touch was…. you guessed it, moss! I love how it turned out!

Incorporate Sophisticated Halloween-themed Artwork
A super easy way to change up decor for any season or holiday is to change out your art. I love Etsy for this! I typically purchase the downloadable art and then just print at home. I did purchase a couple of Halloween prints last year, as well. I added several spooky art pieces to our gallery wall. You can just pick art that has dark and moody colors, that will work too for a spooky effect.
The main focal point of the gallery wall is an antique portrait that I found at Junkstock several years ago. The frame is falling apart, and the colors are perfect for that sophisticated spooky vibe. I have another larger artwork piece. It’s a print of the Sanderson sister’s feet. I just didn’t put it out this year, but I love it.

Enhance with Subtle Spooky Accents
You definitely can go all out for Halloween, and several years I have done just that. This year, I added very simple, but still spooky accents. I love a good skull. 💀 The foam ones are really my favorite because the coloring on them looks very aged and realistic. I think a collection of candles in varying heights and holders is very spooky chic. And you cannot go wrong with a poseable skeleton. Sure, they’re not really “chic”, but they are fun! My skeleton is named Grace Skelly and she was up to all sorts of mischief this year. 😉
