We completed our first ever One Room Challenge last spring. And we gave our laundry room a makeover. I personally think it turned out fabulous. 😉 There were some must haves for me, including a storage tower, open shelves, a folding area, and a space to hang clothes up that don’t go in the dryer. Some of the best laundry room essentials are part of the construction process, so I’m not really going to talk about those here. You can read all about our laundry room project here. On to the things that make it pretty and functional. Let’s get to it!
Laundry Essentials
I use many of these essentials in our own laundry room and some of them I just find dreamy. Like that adjustable clothes rack? How cool is it? I think a glass container full of wool dryer balls looks so pretty displayed in a laundry room. I also use the fur trapper things in the washer and the dryer because of all the dog hair…everywhere. The orange laundry detergent smells amazing! I usually use Costco pods, but if I’m doing a quick wash, I’ll use the liquid detergent. I love a rolling laundry cart. It makes bringing the clothes to the laundry room so much easier!
Functional Space
When you have pretty and functional items, it makes the task not so bad (in my opinion). If you have an area above your washer and dryer that is open for display, make it pretty with some glass containers. You can use several and fill them up with your laundry essentials. If you have cabinets, use clear organizing bins to help keep everything neat and tidy and easily accessible. I think a laundry basket storage place is very essential. If you don’t have space for a tower, purchase the collapsible baskets for more space efficient storage. A place to hang up clothes that don’t go in the dryer is also a must-have for me. You may have room for a huge rod or just a small folding rack…use what your space allows in order to keep things neat and pretty.
