So, you’re ready to start decorating for fall, but it’s still summer outside….I got you! When the kids have gone back to school and it’s still too hot for pumpkins, I like to start with some simple changes to start the summer to fall transition.
First, I’d love to thank Kristy from At Home with Kristy for including me in a fun blog hop! Together, Kristy and I, and several of our friends are going to be sharing some ideas to transition from summer into fall. If you’re coming over from Kristy’s blog, thanks so much for stopping by! She has so many amazing ideas. I’m loving her French Country and Coastal ideas for fall! Be sure to check out all the amazing ideas at the end of this post.
I’ve been transitioning into a simpler style in our home. I do still love a good collection of stuff and lots of cozy layers, but I’m loving more traditional and simpler decor. So, let’s dive into some simple ways to start transitioning into fall…even when it’s still hot outside. 😉
Floral Stems
One of the easiest ways to transition into fall is changing out your greenery/floral stems. I used to purchase a bunch of different stems from Hobby Lobby and Michaels every year and create elaborate arrangements. This year, I’m loving a bunch of one type of stem in a vessel. You can also switch out lighter colored vases for darker toned ones. Bring in darker wood tones and brass accents to get you in the fall mood.
Artwork
Changing out my artwork is another way I like to slowly transition into fall. I’m addicted to Etsy and all the art you can find. I love all the downloadable art. I usually use my home printer to print the art. It’s a fast and affordable way to change up my artwork. I love bringing in dark and moody colors. You don’t necessarily have to use “fall art”. You can bring in the fall mood by the colors in the artwork. I do like a beautiful landscape, but also, I like to add in some vintage sketches and still life. See my favorite fall inspired art here.
Accents
I’m definitely not ready for pumpkins yet. But I do love some cozy accents to start the transition into fall. I love darker wood tones, darker colored vases, moody colored books. Also, brass is perfect for fall. I have only added just a few things throughout our home and it’s already feeling very cozy.
In Conclusion
I’ve only just begun to add cozy fall accents throughout our home. I’ll probably start changing up my pillows next, but I’ll wait to add pumpkins until September. I decided last year that I have too many pumpkins. (Is that even a thing?) So, every time I see one that I like, I have to remind myself that. 😆
Next up on the tour is Sheri with Savvy in the Suburbs. I love her ideas for an easy transition into fall. Be sure to check out all these amazing bloggers and their ideas for early fall decor. They are so inspiring. Can you believe that summer is coming to an end already? It really flew by. Before we know it, it’ll be Christmas! 😆
