I cannot believe that the One Room Challenge is nearly over! I feel like we are just getting started and we do not have enough time. My husband is constantly telling me that we’ll get done. I hope so! For this week, Part one, we tackled the cabinets and started on the shelves. Let’s see just how far we got. Here we go!
Mood Board
Before we get into all the installation, let’s look at what we’re trying to accomplish. I’m going for a cottage vibe in the pantry with muted moody colors and brass accents. We are taking are basic pantry shelves and turning it into a butler’s pantry. I cannot wait to see how everything comes together!
Cabinets
We ordered maple cabinets from Menards, and it took about 4 weeks to get them. The are pretty good quality for the price and they had a lot of options to choose from. We will be painting these cabinets, as well as the shiplap backsplash all the same color. Drum Roll….Fine Grain by Dunn Edwards Dura. I think it will look fabulous with our brass hardware.
Base Cabinets
Upper Cabinets
For the uppers, we are using a 36 x 30 and a 36 x 15 stacked on top. Andy secured the top and bottom together prior to securing them to the wall in order to make sure they were perfectly lined up.
Shelves
The progress on the shelves is not as far as the cabinets. Andy wanted to get the cabinets in prior to starting on the shelves to ensure we had enough room to maneuver the cabinets. The shelves will have vertical shiplap behind them as well. Andy was able to get the vertical supports installed. He also built the footers and the headers of the shelves. Let’s take a look!
What’s Next?
We did end up getting quite a bit done…just not all the shelves like we previously thought. What will happen this week? We will be getting the butcher block countertop. After that is installed the smaller shelving units can be completed. There will be a lot of trim work to do and I’m not looking forward to caulking and filling in all the holes. I’m really hoping we can start painting by the end of this week. 🙏🏻 Be sure to check out all the other amazing projects on the One Room Challenge Blog. Until next time Treasure Hunters!
