Ahhhh, Summer
Happy Summer Friends! There’s just nothing like the summer. It’s my absolute favorite season. I may even love summer more than I love Christmas! Summer is the time for easy living, sleeping in (for my son), vacations, and the Fourth of July!
Patriotic Holidays
I’ve always loved the Fourth of July. The Celebration of our amazing country and our Freedom. I love all the things! I wanted to share some easy (and thrifty) ways to add some Patriotic touches in your home. I personally like to leave up patriotic decor from Memorial Day through the end of July. I don’t know if it’s just this year (the dreaded year 2020), but I’m not looking forward to the fall or even Christmas. I can’t even think about it. So let’s have some fun and decorate for SUMMER!
Styling My Home
Dining Room

In our Dining room this year, I only purchased 8 plastic red and blue plates for a total of $1.50! Everything else I had. Sometimes decor from other seasons (Christmas or Valentine’s) can work for the Summer too. And eucalyptus greenery is season-less to me. Add a few flags (everywhere) and you are good to go!

Kitchen

Living Room
In our Living room, we have vaulted ceilings and a two-sided fireplace. It’s one of my favorite places to decorate and change things up. I did two different options….one for Memorial Day and one for the Fourth of July. My sister painted the beautiful barn picture and gave it to me for my birthday last year. It’s the perfect addition to my patriotic decor. You can check out some of her other pieces here. The other option my huge vintage flag. I found it at Junkstock one year and I knew it would look perfect on the fireplace. My husband placed it in a frame that he made and it’s an awesome statement piece for the fireplace. You could also drape or hang a flag without a frame. But, you must always take into consideration the etiquette of flag display. Find more on that here.

Entryway
I don’t know if you’ve seen our before, but it’s actually been in HGTV magazine! You can check out their post here on their Instagram page and check out their June 2020 issue. It’s another one of my favorite spots to decorate and change out for the seasons. I styled a couple of different versions for the summer with all the patriotic vibes!

Mudroom
The final space inside our home that I styled for Summer/4th of July is our mudroom. We actually didn’t have this space finished when we built our home because we knew we wanted to finish it ourselves. Last year, my husband installed the faux shiplap and created the shelf and bench. We painted it white and added the sconces. I did the puck light trick so they are not hard-wired.

Front Porch
Now, we’re going to move on to the outside of our home and our front porch. This spring I stained our front porch with a concrete stain to give it a darker look. It didn’t turn out the best…there are a lot of streaks. But it does add some contrast to the floor as our front porch is very large. We also added the cedar shutters around the picture window. You can’t go wrong with patriotic bunting and of course, our beautiful American Flag.

That concludes our Summer and Patriotic Home Decor Tour. I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you were inspired! Later Friends!
